Position Summary
Sinclair College offers one of the most comprehensive aviationtechnology programs in the nation which includes Bachelor ofApplied Science degrees in AviationTechnology /Professional Pilot and Unmanned Aerial Systems . Sinclair’s bachelor andassociate degrees and technical certificate programs preparegraduates for careers as commercial fixed wing and helicopterpilots, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants, aircraftdispatchers, aviation managers and unmanned aerial systemsoperators and technicians.

This position is open only to applicants who residein Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform workwithin one of these states. Sinclair Community College restrictspart-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, andbenefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
- Adjunct Faculty teach curriculum developed by thedepartment
- Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize studentlearning
- Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections inaccordance with department and divisional policies
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, useavailable instructional technology when appropriate
- Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategiesto meet diverse students’ needs
- Support classroom and online efforts to promote studentsuccess
- Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promotelearning
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Submit final grade rosters according to establisheddeadlines
- Maintain confidentiality of student information
- Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than themaximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma, and possession of thefollowing FAA certificates and ratings required for theinstructional assignment:
- Commercial Pilot Certificate (Single-Engine Land) withInstrument Rating
- Certified Flight Instructor ( CFI )
- The individual must also meet one of the followingqualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a fielddirectly related to the course to be taught and/or college oruniversity teaching experience in a field directly related to thecourse to be taught, as determined by the department chairpersonand approved by the division dean; or
- Successful completion of at least thirty (30) semester credithours of college-level coursework applicable toward a bachelor’sdegree, plus demonstrated qualifications to teach the assignedcourse as determined by the department chairperson and approved bythe division dean; or
- Other comparable education, training, certifications, or widelyrecognized professional experience directly related to the courseto be taught, as determined by the department chairperson andapproved by the division dean
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of associate’s degree or higher in aviation or aclosely related field; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Additional FAA certificates and ratings, including one or moreof the following:
- Certified Flight Instructor Instrument ( CFII )
- Multi-Engine Instructor ( MEI )
- Advanced Ground Instructor ( AGI )
- Airline Transport Pilot ( ATP )
- Previous successful teaching or instructional experience inhigher education, aviation training, military instruction, orindustry training programs
- Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning throughevidence-based instructional practices and innovative teachingstrategies that support student success
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillswith the ability to work collaboratively in a community collegeenvironment
- Demonstrated proficiency using instructional technology,learning management systems, multimedia, simulation, and othereducational technologies to enhance student learning
Required FAA Documentation
Applicants for Flight Instructor positions must:
- Hold the required FAA certificates and ratings identified inthe minimum qualifications.
- Upload images of both the front and back of their FAAcertificate(s) in the Licensure/Certification section of theemployment application.
