Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an Engineer, Methods & Material to join our aviation client’s defense operations in Wichita, KS. The role emphasizes tool design, CATIA, manufacturing methods, and material planning to improve fabrication and assembly of aircraft components.

You will collaborate with design and manufacturing teams, interpret 2D/3D drawings, and drive projects from concept through implementation in a fully onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Methods, Material Planning, tool design, or manufacturing engineering.
• Proven tool design experience with collaboration between design and methods teams.
• Strong working knowledge of CATIA V4 and/or V5, including modeling/analysis.
• Experience interpreting 2D and 3D drawings/models.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, parts, and installation locations.
• Understanding of manufacturing fundamentals and supply chain management (MRP).

Responsibilities

• Define efficient methods for fabricating and assembling components to meet kit requirements.
• Develop concepts supporting interchangeability and replacement requirements.
• Evaluate the need for new manufacturing equipment and support its implementation.
• Collaborate with design and methods teams using CATIA to develop practical solutions.
• Work with 2D/3D drawings and models.
• Monitor evolving industry certification standards and manufacturing methods.
• Incorporate new technologies into departmental processes.
• Support project workflows and adjust personnel assignments as needed.
• Provide technical training and guidance to department personnel.
• Ensure policies are reflected in new document releases.
• Lead program reviews, cost-reduction initiatives, and data-management activities.
• Serve as focal point for ROM bids.
