Job Overview
Manages all Aviation Section mechanics and oversees the maintenance of agency aircraft.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Fluent in verbal and written English.
- U.S. Citizen or hold a current permanent resident card.
- Clean criminal record; arrests will be evaluated individually.
- No illegal drug use in the past year; other drug use evaluated case by case.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent plus seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with fixed wing and helicopter maintenance; willingness to complete FAA authorized classes within six months.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant License and Inspection Authorization; must maintain certifications.
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
- Ability to attend and complete Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) training if required.
- Proficiency in assessing aircraft airworthiness and routine safety inspections.
- Ability to manage flight schedules, supervise maintenance, and oversee budget and inventory.
- Skills in negotiating with vendors and liaising with regulatory agencies.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft repair, maintenance procedures, and supervisory skills.
- Mathematical skills including basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and documents.
- Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Excellent communication skills for reports, presentations, and group discussions.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting up to 25 pounds and exposure to noisy, mechanical environments.
- Management responsibilities include supervising personnel, approving payroll, training, performance appraisal, and addressing employee issues.
