Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. is seeking an Aviation Project Engineer to contribute to planning, design, and delivery of aviation infrastructure projects ranging from moderate to complex.

The engineer will collaborate with project managers, staff, clients, and subconsultants to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions. Depending on experience, responsibilities may include leading design efforts, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and supporting client relationships.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer license in PA or OH, or eligibility via reciprocity.
• 8–15 years of progressively responsible aviation/airport design experience.
• Experience with airfield projects (apron, taxiway, runway).
• Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and airport design standards.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead the design of aviation infrastructure projects (airfield, landside, site development).
• Prepare engineering calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents.
• Coordinate with project team members, clients, and subconsultants.
• Participate in planning, design development, coordination, constructability reviews, and QC activities.
• Assist with evaluating alternatives and developing practical engineering solutions.
• Manage tasks and support delivery within schedules and budgets.
• Attend client meetings and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Apply FAA standards and client requirements in design.
• Assist with scope, schedule, staffing, and workload planning.
• Support proposal preparation and project interviews.
