Job summary

Swissport, a global aviation services leader, is seeking a Heavy Equipment & Fleet Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of airport support vehicles and equipment. No aviation experience is required; candidates will receive training on airport-specific systems.

The role is full-time in Seattle, with an hourly pay rate of $30.00–$36.00, plus comprehensive benefits including health and dental insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver's license and ability to travel for training.
• Trade school training or mechanical background preferred.
• Good command of English (spoken and written).
• Willing to work outdoors year-round.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment - motorized and non-motorized.
• Perform preventive maintenance per established schedules on all ground support equipment.
• Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment as required.
• Hydraulic knowledge or basics necessary. Must be willing to learn hydraulic systems.
• Airport deicing training will be required; overtime during weather emergencies.
• Work outside in all weather conditions year-round.
• Remove malfunctioning GSE from service and ensure repair before return to service.
• Respond to emergency service calls and accidents involving GSE.
• Complete maintenance/repair documentation per SP requirements.
• Comply with security requirements and maintain valid licenses.
• Keep the GSE shop clean and report deficiencies.
• Fuel equipment safely and liaise with Ramp management as needed.
• Work as a self-starter and report to shop leads daily.
