Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to perform diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of GSE at the MCAS Cherry Point, NC site. You’ll diagnose issues, document repairs, and ensure equipment readiness for flight operations.

You will work with fleet-wide tools and manuals, train junior staff, and uphold safety and environmental standards while maintaining accurate equipment records and dispatching GSE as needed.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in inspection, maintenance, repair and modification of powered ground support equipment.
• Must meet physical requirements related to daily tasks, respirator use, corrosion control, and blasting.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CAC.
• Must have a negative pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Trains lower grade workers on diagnoses and repair of less complex problems.
• Inspects and approves completed maintenance actions.
• Uses drawings, wiring diagrams and publications to troubleshoot and repair GSE.
• Maintains vehicle and equipment records and dispatches GSE to support aircraft maintenance and operations.
• Operates, services, and tests GSE, including fuel, oil, coolant and hydraulic systems.
• Disassembles/reassembles GSE components and handles hazardous materials per standards.
• Prepares GSE for storage and deployment; maintains tool control and safety practices.
