Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Minimum 5 years airport or industrial firefighting experience with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Must hold NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800.
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter II (Alabama) or reciprocity.
• NFPA 472 HazMat-Operations (Alabama) or reciprocity.
• NFPA 600/1710/460 for industrial fire brigades.
• NFPA 1003 Airport Firefighter with ARFF vehicle ops or reciprocity.
• Fire Officer I (NFPA 1021) within 12 months.
• Alabama EMT-Basic certification and ongoing EMS certification.

Responsibilities

• Command all incidents and direct shift personnel for safe response.
• First responder for medical emergencies on site under Medical Director.
• Maintain readiness of all apparatus and equipment; report deficiencies.
• Complete daily/weekly/annual vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Inspect buildings, fueling facilities, and vehicles for fire hazards.
• Complete required reports promptly.
• Lead Emergency Action Plan and weather policy; brief Fire Chief.
• Plan and deliver shift training; coordinate drills with EHS and on-site medical services.
• Respond to Airbus Site dispatches; mutual aid as needed.
• Drive emergency vehicles and manage radio communications.
• Ensure safe arrival of crew and apparatus at scenes.
• Inspect life safety equipment and record in database.
• Perform confined space rescue in aircraft fuel tanks; conduct drills.
• Exercise shift supervisory authority; act as Airport Fire Chief in absence.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
