Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Construction Section Manager in Atlanta, GA to lead the Construction Services section with a primary focus on Aviation & Federal projects. You will drive business strategy, build high-performing teams, and promote the firm’s culture of client satisfaction, safety and service.

The role requires directing staff, managing budgets, and coordinating with Engineering GP and proposal teams to win work and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field.
• 5+ years related professional experience in construction and project management (10 years preferred).
• Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly present complex information.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
• Responsible for profitable growth of the section; ensuring staff levels, staff loading, and staff assignments meet project requirements while maintaining billable goals.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost, and establishing Construction objectives.
• Lead communication between Engineering GP and Construction section; manage budgets and project status reports.
• Recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff; performance evaluations for department staff.
• Ensure QA/QC adherence; enforce safety policies and compliance on projects.
