Job summary

Heads Up Technologies, Inc. seeks an Electronics Technician to support new product development and design engineering through hands-on testing, qualification support, and prototype build activities.

You will work with electrical, mechanical, software, and FPGA engineers to move products from concept to manufacturing release. Responsibilities include environmental testing, instrument setup, data capture, and test report generation.

Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics or Electrical Technology or equivalent training.
• Three or more years of hands on electronics testing or technician work.
• Demonstrated hand soldering and rework on PCBs (SMT and through-hole).
• Experience building/modifying cable and wire harness assemblies with crimping and connector termination.
• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, and test procedures.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and function generators.
• Strong documentation skills to record setups, observations, and results clearly.
• Excellent attention to detail, discipline in record keeping, and methodical test sequences.
• MS Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency; ability to learn test automation/data logging software.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work safely in lab environments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate environmental test chambers for temperature, humidity, altitude, and thermal shock testing of new products.
• Support accelerated life testing including fixture setup and test execution.
• Assist with environmental/electrical qualification testing to RTCA DO-160G.
• Write, redline, and maintain test plans and procedures; propose improvements.
• Record data logs, photos, and test results; create HALT summaries for review.
• Identify anomalies, assist with root-cause analysis, and retest after actions.
• Assemble prototypes per drawings and BOMs under engineering direction.
• Perform hand soldering, rework, and PCB mods including surface mount and through-hole parts.
• Fabricate cable/harness assemblies; termination, shielding, labeling, continuity checks.
• Assemble mechanical/electromechanical units and integrate subassemblies for testing.
• Operate and maintain test equipment and lab fixtures (oscilloscopes, DMMs, PS, FG, DAQ).
• Maintain lab calibration, cleanliness, ESD controls, and readiness of build area.
• Support transition to manufacturing by feedback on assembly/test procedures.
• Expedite parts, kitting, and assist with engineering experiments as needed.
