Job summary

Buro Happold in Washington, DC is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design on aviation projects. You will guide technical delivery, manage resources, and coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to achieve high-quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and delivering practical solutions while meeting codes and standards. A PE license and LEED AP are desirable. Hybrid work and competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering design for buildings and infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience working on airport/aviation projects.
• Demonstrated ability to serve as the primary electrical discipline lead on medium to large aviation projects.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior-level MEP role within an architectural engineering or consulting environment.
• Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure desirable.
• LEED AP accreditation preferred.
• Experience using Revit and relevant computational analysis tools.
• Excellent client-facing, communication, and team leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary electrical discipline lead on medium to large aviation projects.
• Lead the design and technical specification of electrical systems, ensuring high-quality and coordinated project delivery.
• Manage project resources, technical deliverables, and client relationships.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutions.
• Guide graduates and junior engineers through their professional development.
• Communicate directly with clients and build strong, lasting client relationships.
• Ensure designs and services align with client objectives and comply with applicable legislation, standards, and building codes.
• Identify project challenges and develop thoughtful, practical solutions.
