Job summary

Abacus Technology Corporation is seeking a Switch Technician to repair, program, and maintain VoIP switches for Joint Base Charleston. This is a full-time on-site role requiring a Secret clearance and US citizenship.

You will provide O&M support for Avaya switches, install and upgrade G450 media gateways and G650 cabinets, and program VDNs/Call Vectors within CM6. Expect hands-on work with Cisco switches and fiber/cabling tasks as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience providing inside plant support for telephone or telecommunication systems.
• Must be Security+ certified.
• Must be Avaya certified or have a certificate of training in Avaya Communication Manager, System Manager, Aura Session Manager, and Session Border Controller Enterprise.
• Extensive experience with switches as well as related switch concepts.
• Experience in telephony and cable systems architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods.
• May be required to crawl under/behind customer work environments to gain access networking equipment.
• Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide operation and maintenance (O&M) support of the Avaya phone switch for the Air Force and Navy.
• Install G450 Media gateways and perform firmware upgrades.
• Conduct firmware upgrades to Avaya G650 cabinets and related boards.
• Maintain Avaya CMM for servers and health monitoring.
• Program call VDNs and Call Vectors within the CM6 and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain daily maintenance of all switch activities including moves, adds, changes, and trunking.
• Work with Air Force on VLANs trunking to correct buildings for VoIP installation.
• Support work orders installing Cat 5e/6 and fiber cable runs and fiber terminations.
