Job summary

Abacus Technology seeks a Site Manager to oversee a telecoms team at Joint Base Charleston. You will supervise field technicians, ensure maintenance and repair of telephony systems, and coordinate IT services to maintain continuous operations.

The role requires a US citizen with a Secret clearance and proven leadership in inside-plant support for telephone networks. The position is full-time and based on-site at Charleston, SC.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inside plant support for telephone or telecommunication systems.
• Extensive experience with Avaya switches and related switch concepts.
• Experience in telephony and cable systems architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods.
• Experience leading a team and directing team members.
• Ability to read, assess, and understand testing results.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer support, orientation for telephony infrastructure systems used by Joint Base Charleston.
• Interact with users to repair, replace, program, and maintain switches, peripherals, software, hardware configurations, and communication networking equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to mitigate IT systems operation disruptions.
• Provide hands-on and remote access assistance with telephone installations, hardware configurations, and communication networking.
• Administer voicemail accounts and provide initial orientation to new customers.
• Create and delete user accounts, assign and reset passwords.
• Manage infrastructure devices and systems using the latest approved software tools.
• Participate in meetings, discussions, committees, or IT projects as needed.
• Analyze areas of concern, identify problems, and resolve conflicts as they arise.
• Review, update, and generate documents supporting the communication systems.

Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Site Manager to oversee a team of telecommunications technicians providing support for the Base Telecommunication Services through repairing, replacing, programming, and maintaining equipment and cables. This is a full-time position at Joint Base Charleston.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer support, assistance, and orientation for telephony infrastructure systems utilized by Joint Base Charleston.
• Interact with users to repair, replace, program, and maintain all switches, peripherals, software, hardware configurations, and communication networking equipment ensuring proper system operation.
• Provide technical assistance to current and potential users to mitigate IT systems operations disruptions.
• Provide technical hands‑on and remote access assistance with telephone installations, hardware configurations, and communication networking.
• Administer customer voicemail accounts and provide initial orientation to new customers.
• Create and delete user accounts, assign and reset passwords.
• Manage infrastructure devices and systems using the latest approved software tools.

Qualifications

3+ years experience providing inside plant support for telephone or telecommunication systems. Extensive experience with Avaya switches as well as related switch concepts. Experience in telephony and cable systems architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods. Experience leading a team and providing direction to team members. Able to analyze complexities of existing technology, understanding of maintenance and administration position testing applications, and be able to read, assess, and understand testing results. May be required to crawl under/behind customer work environments to gain access networking equipment. Must be a US citizen and hold a Secret clearance.
