Job summary

Qualifications

  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • CTS‑I and/or CTS‑D certification is required.
  • Experience in customer interactions and General Contractor interactions.
  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Commercial Audio Video.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Must meet Company driving standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and supervise multiple PMs.
  • Ability to define a project, create a scope of work, and manage to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise project staff, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Train PMs, Dispatchers, and field staff to meet goals.
  • Conduct regular project status reviews and weekly scheduling.
  • Oversee warehouse operations and delivery of AV components.
  • Develop staff training plans and certifications for AV staff.
  • Manage technical deliverables across programming, commissioning, and drawings.

Job Summary

The Technical Manager is responsible for multiple projects that can be client-based or rollout specific as assigned by the Division Manager. The Technical Manager supervises multiple PMs and Dispatchers who ensure all contracted work is developed, implemented, delivered, and managed in accordance with IES and the Customer’s requirements, including but not limited to Safety, Quality, management, and financial performance requirements. All aspects of the assigned project(s) must be carried out as efficiently as possible with respect to staffing, materials management, financial management, customer care, and customer delivery goals. Additional responsibilities include managing the AV9000 Quality Control implementation, compliance in the Division overseeing the AV Service Group, AV Warehouse coordination, AV Field staff, and developing training plans and career path guidance within the AV group.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Create, develop, and implement AV9000 project certification Technical at IES.
  2. Prepare documentation, manage correspondence, and track AV9000 certification status with AVAQ.
  3. Oversee IES AV staff compliance with and training on AV9000 Technical.
  4. Ensure that AV Project Managers plan for, manage, monitor, and maintain project profitability to achieve Company goals.
  5. Ensure that AV Project Managers effectively manage, supervise, promote, discipline, and discharge (if necessary), all project-related staff.
  6. Proactively manage – and if necessary, elevate – field staff HR issues per Company policies and procedures.
  7. Review PM’s recommendations for project-related employees’ performance reviews, promotions, and pay changes.
  8. Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to Project Managers, Dispatchers, Service & Field Technicians, and Warehouse staff to meet customer, and Company goals and objectives.
  9. Complete performance reviews of subordinate PMs & Dispatchers and oversee performance reviews by PMs of project-related Field Staff.
  10. Conduct weekly project status reviews with PM’s and Dispatchers.
  11. Oversee weekly scheduling to ensure projects are staffed within the project budget, and for project success.
  12. Manage the workload distribution, monitor the customer delivery, and project installation progress to ensure productivity, profitability, and efficiency are maximized.
  13. Train the PMs to properly review all job cost postings for accuracy and completeness, including but not limited to preparation of invoices, SOVs, customer collections, and periodic financial reporting to the customer and management.
  14. Complete monthly Holland reviews with PM’s.
  15. Develop and Monitor AV Service Department processes.
  16. Oversee Warehouse operations for efficiency and timely delivery of AV components.
  17. Develop a staff Training Plan and chart AV field staff training. Select or recommend individual training sessions and certifications utilizing IES, and manufacturer courses.
  18. Manage Technical Field staff levels for Programming, Commissioning, Drawings, and other needed technical deliverables on projects as defined in the project process.
  19. Assist AV Engineers and Division Management in the bid review process.
  20. Manage all related quality and safety issues and follow up at customer worksites.
  21. Represent IES professionally during interactions with customer representative(s).
  22. Create, develop, and monitor AV warehouse staging, and receiving processes, and personnel.
  23. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Must be self‑motivated, positive in approach, professional, and lead others to create, develop, and implement department and project process improvements.
  • Must promote the Company culture and mission, as well as Department objectives to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Must possess proven problem‑solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations.
  • Must have 10 years of Pro‑Audio/Visual integration experience, with at least 3 years of field technician experience, and at least 3 years of AV Project Management experience.
  • Must have proven highly skilled at interpreting blueprints, and other project documents, including but not limited to scope, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Must be able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Must possess the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
  • Must be able to successfully secure and maintain a Company‑sponsored American Express Card.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements

  • Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks and manage the tasks to completion, and manage customer turnover successfully.
