Job summary

Technibus, Inc. seeks a Sr. Field Engineer – AV to install, commission, and troubleshoot advanced AV systems both in-house and on-site. You will lead field activities, review drawings, configure DSPs, and coordinate with project teams to deliver high-quality installations.

The role requires CTS-D, Crestron/QSYS/AMX knowledge, network basics, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring safety and customer satisfaction. Travel within territory may be needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in audiovisual commercial integration.
  • CTS-D, Crestron Programmer 2, QSYS level 2 certifications.
  • Able to create complex DSP audio configurations.
  • Networking and VLAN management experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Install and operate AV systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems in field and service roles.
  • Create shop drawings and submittals for new projects.
  • Program DSPs and configure AV components (DSP, mixers, wireless mics).
  • Commission audio systems and configure IP devices.
  • Coordinate with sales, PM, and IT for project execution.
  • Pre-quality-check projects and prepare punch lists.
  • Assist with product demonstrations for sales staff.

Job Title

Sr. Field Engineer – AV

Reports To

AV Engineering Manager

Job Summary

The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will be able to install and operate most types of AV systems and equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will be able to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems in a senior service support role. That includes testing, troubleshooting of system components and functions, and field verification of connections, labels, installation, and work quality.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will understand advanced system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals. They will be able to create shop drawings, and submittals for new project kick-off.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV must understand Control System and/or DSP programming, and commissioning including basic programming, and set up to configure system components such as DSP, mixers, wireless mics, video, & lighting systems.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will be able to do complex programming and configuring of AV equipment such as DSP (Biamp/QSC/BSS/ClearOne).
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will be able to do basic programming and configuring of Crestron/Extron/AMX, matrix mixers, and switchers, VTC (Cisco/Polycom).
  • The Sr. AV Field Engineer will be able to commission audio systems.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will be able to configure IP addressable devices and have a basic understanding of data networking.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV’s work will include work both "in house" and in the field when required.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will assume ownership of project installation giving next-level support to the Field Engineer, as well as supporting field staff and project manager.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will assist with maintaining and completing project punch-list for project closeouts.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will oversee the technical aspects of projects and IT coordination.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will pre-quality-check the projects, test all equipment, and functionality, and create punch lists.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will assist sales staff as needed with product and system demonstrations.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will assist PM with change order designs and estimates.
  • The Sr. Field Engineer - AV will handle other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and lead others to create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s).

  • Must have proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentation(s).
  • Must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Must able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Will have at least 5 years of overall audiovisual commercial integration industry experience, working commercial integration projects.
  • Will have the following certifications: CTS-D, Crestron Programmer 2, QSYS level 2.
  • Will be able to create complex DSP audio configuration.
  • Networking – Able to coordinate network requirements with clients, configure network switches for multicast traffic & manage VLANs.
  • Drawings – Proficient in creating & coordinating full drawing package: Signal flow diagrams, display & equipment elevations, speaker placement, conduit requirements.
  • AV Design – Able to vet designs for missing/ wrong material and redesign as needed. Create change orders.
  • Must have a proven track record in audiovisual systems and be able to lead commissioning efforts on large/ complex projects.
  • Must be able to work well with other people.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks, and manage these to completion and customer turnover.
Salary

USD $35.00/Yr. – USD $55.00/Yr.
