Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking dependable AV/Low Voltage Cable Technicians to support commercial audiovisual, structured cabling, and technology infrastructure projects in the Wilmington, NC area. The role focuses on installing low-voltage cabling, AV systems, fiber optics, and network infrastructure with hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.

Qualifications

1+ years of experience in low-voltage cabling, structured cabling, AV installation, or related field.
Experience pulling, routing, terminating, and testing copper or fiber cabling.
Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
Familiarity with commercial construction environments.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and professionalism when interacting with customers and coworkers.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders or lifts when required.
Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Install, route, dress, and terminate CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
Install and support audiovisual systems including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, digital signage, and video conferencing equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, conduit, and surface raceway.
Perform cable testing, labeling, and documentation in accordance with industry standards.
Terminate and test network cabling and fiber optic infrastructure.
Assist with rack buildouts, rack-and-stack activities, and equipment installations.
Perform troubleshooting and repair of AV and low-voltage systems.
Maintain clean and organized work areas while adhering to project schedules.
Follow all company safety policies, customer requirements, and quality standards.
Collaborate with project managers, lead technicians, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
