Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an AV/Low Voltage Cable Technician to support commercial audiovisual, structured cabling and technology infrastructure projects in the Wilmington, NC area. The role involves installing low-voltage cabling, AV systems, fiber optics and network infrastructure, with hands-on installation, troubleshooting and commissioning.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in low-voltage cabling, structured cabling, AV installation, or related field.
• Experience pulling, routing, terminating, and testing copper or fiber cabling.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
• Familiarity with commercial construction environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders or lifts when required.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, route, dress, and terminate CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
• Install and support audiovisual systems including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, digital signage, and video conferencing equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
• Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, conduit, and surface raceway.
• Perform cable testing, labeling, and documentation in accordance with industry standards.
• Terminate and test network cabling and fiber optic infrastructure.
• Assist with rack buildouts, rack-and-stack activities, and equipment installations.
• Perform troubleshooting and repair of AV and low-voltage systems.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas while adhering to project schedules.
• Follow all company safety policies, customer requirements, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, lead technicians, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
