Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an AV Installation Specialist to design, install, and implement complex AV systems for events and classrooms. You will lead room preparations and ensure equipment functions securely according to client requests.

Responsibilities include managing equipment, responding to IT tickets, coordinating installations, and advising on hardware and software options. A background in training, strong communication, and customer service are required.

Job Duties

Designs, installs, and implements large, highly complex, routine, and non‑routine audiovisual (AV) hardware, software, and associated systems. Leads the preparation of rooms, venues, or events with proper AV equipment to ensure proper functionality and security according to client requests and business needs.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • AV Equipment Support - 75%
    • Sets up, installs, upgrades, configures, troubleshoots, adjusts, documents, and connects complex audio, visual, lighting, computer equipment, and peripherals in various environments for events, academic instruction, distance education, or meetings according to established requirements and requests.
    • Responsible for responding to assistance requests in the campus IT ticketing system.
    • Schedules logistics and secures resources for new installations of audiovisual equipment.
    • Tests, maintains, and provides recommendations for alternative hardware and software options to ensure proper functionality, security requirements, and business needs are met.
    • Provide consultation for audio visual equipment purchases.
  • Support for Faculty and Staff - 15%
    • Assists with the development and scheduling of operational workplans for classroom technology.
    • Provides consultation and answers questions regarding AudioVisual and Classroom Technology equipment and functionality to individuals and groups based on set material and standards.
  • General Responsibilities - 10%
    • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred Certifications: AV Systems Certifications (Q‑SYS or Extron)
  • Professional experience in higher education
  • Experience with Q‑SYS and/or Extron programming.
  • Practice with project management involving audiovisual components.
  • At least 2 years experience supporting technology‑enabled classrooms or distance education programs
Education
  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma
  • Preferred Degree: Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Technology, Education or related field.
