Qualifications

Job Duties

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is seeking a collaborative andinnovative Instructional Designer & Learning TechnologySpecialist to support the READY RURAL initiative. This positionserves as the lead for instructional design, educationaltechnology, digital learning, and multimedia development,partnering with faculty and subject matter experts to transformcontent into engaging, accessible, and workforce-focused learningexperiences. In this role, you will design and develop high-qualityinstructional materials for online, hybrid, face-to-face,simulation, mobile, and partner-based learning environments. Youwill create innovative learning resources that support ruralhealthcare education, including topics such as telehealth, virtualcare, remote patient monitoring, behavioral health, home-basedcare, interprofessional practice, care coordination, and workforcereadiness. The position also supports the development of stackablecredentials, continuing education offerings, faculty developmentresources, and workforce training programs. The successful candidate will provide consultation and support tofaculty and staff on instructional technologies, digital learningtools, accessibility, and inclusive teaching practices. Responsibilities include developing multimedia resources such asinstructional videos, simulations, interactive learning modules,digital toolkits, and tutorials, while ensuring all learningmaterials meet quality and accessibility standards. This position also plays a key role in managing instructionaldesign and media development projects by coordinating timelines,maintaining documentation and reusable resources, training facultyand project personnel on educational technologies, and supportingthe collection and interpretation of data to continuously improvelearning experiences and program effectiveness.

Benefits

• Health plans, currently starting at $45 per month.
• 176 hours of vacation per year (prorated for start date).
• 36 hours of personal holiday, and 9 legal holidays (prorated for start date).
• 176 Hours of sick leave for first 18 months. After this period,employees can earn up to 96 hours per fiscal year. Accumulateswithout limit and does not expire.
• Paid parental leave after six months of continuousemployment.
• Wisconsin Retirement System (pension) with 7.2% employercontribution for 2026.

This position is funded through the READY RURAL grant and is initially offered as a one-year fixed-term appointment. The appointment is renewable annually for up to four years, contingent upon continued grant funding, satisfactory performance, and program needs.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Applies project management principles to course or media designsuch as defining project scope, establishing milestones, andtracking progress
• Provides pedagogical consultation services for instructors and staff on instructional toolsand technologies, best practices fordigital instructional content, and institutional initiatives
• Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships withinstructors and other academic staff to advance excellence inteaching and learning
• Reviews courses, media, or other learning products for qualityusing industry standardsand accessibility best practices
• Trains and supports instructors and staff to leveragetechnology and teach implement pedagogy effectively
• Works with campus partners across pre-production, production,and post-production stages of media development for implementationin courses and other campusinitiatives
• Creates and maintains documentation on pedagogy, course ormedia design, templates, instructional technologies, and curates alibrary of shareable resources
• Designs and develops learning activities and course contentusing instructional technologies to foster inclusive and equitablestudent experiences

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with tools such as Canvas, Articulate 360, AdobeCreative Cloud, Camtasia, H5P, video platforms, virtual simulationtools, or similar systems.
• Experience with accessibility standards, Universal Design forLearning, inclusive pedagogy, and AI-assisted instructionaldesign.
• Experience supporting telehealth, digital health, Virtual Care,or simulation learning environments.
