Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking an Autopsy/Diener Aide - per diem to support the autopsy suite, assist with dissection and specimen handling, and ensure proper body identification. The ideal candidate has an associate degree in sciences, 3–5 years autopsy experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with computers.

This role also involves mentoring residents and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Sciences or equivalent certification.
• 3–5 years Autopsy experience.
• Excellent communication skills (oral & written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers and ability to document findings.

Responsibilities

• Participates in departmental and inter-departmental conferences; accurately describe and dissect categories of specimens per guidelines.
• Adheres to OSHA PPE requirements when handling blood and body fluids.
• Supports coworkers in day-to-day activities and follows directions from pathology staff.
• Follows safety procedures for hazardous reagents and specimens; coaches and mentors.
• Takes corrective action regarding unsafe conditions and follows standard operating procedures.

Education
