Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island seeks a Pathologists’ Assistant to perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under the supervision of a pathologist. The role includes preparing tissue for histology, frozen sections, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemical testing, and contributing to educational activities.

The candidate will support residents, assist in conferences, and participate in QA/QI initiatives while ensuring compliance with CAP, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission

Qualifications

• Must graduate from NAACLS-accredited Pathology Assistant program or hold a related Bachelor’s degree with relevant pathology experience.
• Preferred: ASCP-PA certification, ASCP BOR, AAPA certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens.
• Prepare tissue for histology, frozen sections, flow cytometry, IHC.
• Photograph specimens and support pathology residents' training.
• Assist in QA/QI initiatives and compliance with CAP/NYSDOH/Joint Commission standards.
