Job summary

Penn State’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) seeks Systems & Robotics Engineers for its Autonomous & Emerging Technology (AET) division, State College, PA. The role focuses on autonomy for underwater platforms, prototype integration, and technology transition with Navy sponsors.

On-site work with periodic travel to remote locations is required. Ideal candidates have strong systems engineering skills, Agile development experience, and a security clearance (Secret or higher).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science required.
• 14+ years of relevant experience (varies by level).
• Active security clearance at the Secret level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate autonomy architectures for unmanned underwater vehicles (UxVs).
• Design and test SSW payloads, sensors, navigation solutions, and undersea effectors.
• Build prototype architectures using SIL/HIL and conduct field testing in maritime conditions.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet sponsor objectives.
