Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) seeks a Department Head for Autonomy and Emerging Technology to lead autonomy research for undersea vehicles and related systems. The role drives innovation, manages multi-disciplinary teams, and interfaces with Navy sponsors to shape new UxV capabilities.

The position requires on-site work in State College, PA with periodic travel to remote locations, and offers potential non-tenure track faculty or R&D faculty appointment.

Formación

• Experience leading technical teams and programs.
• Ability to make decisions in complex technical environments.
• Experience with autonomy for unmanned systems and undersea missions.
• Familiarity with DEVSECOPS for government software.
• Ability to obtain security clearance if required.

Responsabilidades

• Lead innovation in the SSW domain focusing on UxV autonomy.
• Oversee UxV programs and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Align resources with program needs and priorities.
• Mentor engineers and researchers in autonomy and sensing.
• Plan and execute system integration, testing and evaluation.
• Collaborate with ARL departments and sponsors.
• Develop new UxV autonomy research opportunities and partnerships.
• Engage Navy sponsors and represent ARL at conferences.
