Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Autonomy Systems Engineer to join the Surface Loading Autonomy team in Irving, TX. The role involves defining requirements and architecture to integrate autonomy with the base machine, plus hands-on lab and on-machine work.

You'll work with autonomous systems hardware including vision systems (camera, LiDAR, radar), GSS, IMU, and collaborate across teams to deliver safe, reliable solutions. Domestic relocation assistance is available; visa sponsorship is not.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer supporting product development teams focusing on software and hardware development.
• Experience in Construction or Mining industry and with Wheel Loaders, Excavators, or Articulated Trucks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements and system architecture to integrate autonomy solutions with base machines.
• Decompose customer requirements into system-level requirements.
• Collaborate with Machine System teams to deliver autonomous features.
• Document designs, requirements, and success criteria.
• Validate autonomy solutions on surface loading machines and ensure traceability.
