Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is hiring for an HLS Autonomy Software Systems Engineer II in the Lunar Permanence program. You will join a diverse team of engineers to define systems and software across Lunar programs, contributing to mission success and safe spaceflight.

The role emphasizes collaboration with software, GN&C, and controls teams, developing state machines, requirements, and verification plans, with a focus on safety-critical systems.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years professional experience.
• Experience with C/C++ or Python scripting
• Demonstrated experience developing software requirements and test cases.
• Hands-on experience with state machine definition, controls theory, or MATLAB Simulink (Stateflow exposure preferred).
• Experience working on a cross-functional engineering team.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop state machine definitions (Simulink/Stateflow) for assigned subsystems under general supervision.
• Write and maintain software requirements, verification plans, and test cases for owned scope.
• Participate in fault management discussions and begin contributing to FMEA-driven requirements for assigned subsystems.
• Support HIL/SIL test setup and execution; begin authoring test procedures independently.
• Work directly with FSW, GN&C, or controls engineers on requirements flowdown for assigned interfaces.
• Develop tool, test, and verification software as needed.
