Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Summer Autonomy & Robotics Engineering Intern in Moorpark, CA to help develop autonomous behaviors for UAS and other platforms. You will work on algorithm development, computer vision, GNC integration, and real hardware tests in a fast-paced team setting.

The role emphasizes collaboration, hands-on learning, and mentorship from senior engineers. Ideal candidates are pursuing CS, aerospace, EE, or robotics with strong coding skills and an interest in unmanned

Qualifications

• Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
• Coursework or project experience in robotics, autonomy, or computer vision.
• Proficiency in C/C++ (C++11 or later) and familiarity with Python and/or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, implementation, and testing of algorithms for computer vision, object tracking, and target detection.
• Support Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) integrated with visual sensors.
• Contribute to state estimation using inertial and visual data; model autonomous behaviors.
• Assist in path planning and multi-vehicle coordination; work on simulation and hardware.
• Collaborate on testing, data collection, and experimental design; participate in code reviews.
• Document findings and present results in internal reports or presentations.
