Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

You will design, develop, and test software across ground control, user interfaces, data pipelines, and simulation tools, contributing to real-world AV technology projects. This 12-week onsite program is paid and open to students pursuing CS or software engineering degrees with GPA 3.0 or higher; relocation/housing stipends may be available.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong programming knowledge in Python, C++, or Java.
• Experience with development tools such as Visual Studio, Git, Eclipse.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and on a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, coding, testing, and debugging of software components.
• Contribute to tools and applications for AV software platforms.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to integrate capabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and version control workflows.
• Help develop scripts to automate workflows and improve efficiency.
• Learn Agile practices and estimate development effort and timelines.
• Support prototypes, simulations, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Attend team meetings and contribute ideas.
