Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an engineering specialist to develop cutting-edge autonomous and operator-assisted driving systems for mobile off-road machines.

You will design, implement, and test autonomy software and collaborate across engineering teams to integrate solutions into the hardware and software stack. The role requires extensive experience with C++, Python, ROS/AIS, OpenCV, and TensorFlow/PyTorch, plus strong math skills and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of mobile robotics for autonomy or operator assist systems.
• Familiarity with lidar, radar and cameras as sensors.
• Design, write, test and review autonomy software.
• Experience with Embodied AI.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Solve challenging problems for mobile off-road machines.
• Design, develop, test software and algorithms for autonomy.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to integrate solutions into the software stack.
• Document architecture specifications, software design, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures.
• Work with application teams to collect and analyze data on customer experiences with robotic platforms.
