Job summary

Caterpillar seeks a Robotics Engineer to build and deploy autonomous systems for large off-road machines at the Irving, TX office. You will own components end‑to‑end from idea to production, spanning perception, planning, control, and learning, with hands-on hardware experience.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in robotics, expertise across autonomy domains, and strong C++/Python production‑quality coding skills; ROS experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Typically 3+ years of related engineering experience.
• Strong robotics generalist across the full autonomy stack.
• Expertise in AI, motion planning, perception, controls, or SLAM.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python with production-quality code.
• ROS (or similar) in real robotics systems.
• End-to-end product experience from idea to production, not just prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Participate in test review, witnessing and certification of robotics software.
• Design, build, and ship autonomy components across perception, planning, control, and learning.
• Take work from prototype to production on real hardware.
• Bring depth in your specialty while contributing across the stack.
• Work in small, outcome‑owning pods from capability benches.
