Job summary

Saronic is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer Intern to tackle real-world problems in autonomous surface vessels. You will design and test software for navigation, sensor integration, and real-time processing, working with a multidisciplinary team in Austin.

You'll gain hands-on experience in software development, testing, and deployment, including hardware-in-the-loop validation, while collaborating with engineers across mechanical, electrical, and systems disciplines.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, TypeScript, JavaScript or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test software components for autonomous systems, including navigation algorithms, sensor integration, and communication protocols
• Collaborate to develop and optimize algorithms for real-time decision-making, path planning, and object detection
• Assist in the development of testing frameworks and participate in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
• Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and networking issues that arise during deployments
• Create technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and test plans
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software with hardware components
