Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a hands-on systems engineer to join the Tactical Intelligent Systems Group (QAT). You will contribute to AI/autonomy research, develop real-time algorithms, and help deploy advanced simulation tools for national security applications.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering/CS/math with 2+ years in systems engineering, plus experience in AI/ML and C/C++/Java. Some travel and eligibility for security clearance required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or other relevant field.
• 2+ years of professional experience in systems engineering with autonomy/AI/ML
• Experience developing simulation models using C/C++/Java or similar languages
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills; ability to build relationships with sponsors and contractors
• Willingness to travel to U.S. government sites and ability to obtain security clearances (Secret/Top Secret)

Responsibilities

• Advance AI/ML and autonomy to develop ISR capabilities and simulations.
• Develop and apply software to code new algorithms for real-time autonomy applications.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers; publish results to advance the field.
