The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking PhD-level researchers to join the Intelligent Combat Platforms Group to advance AI, autonomy, and aircraft design for national security. You will work on multidisciplinary teams to prototype and test new capabilities in intelligent autonomous systems that enhance warfighter safety and effectiveness.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD in STEM, have strong C++ and/or Python skills, and experience with AI and autonomy.

Qualifications

  • PhD in STEM required or closely related field.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python with design-pattern knowledge.
  • Experience with AI/autonomy algorithms and systems applicable to physical platforms.
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance by start date and Top Secret clearance eventualy; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on intelligent control and decision-making, human-machine collaboration and autonomous air platforms.
  • Prototype and simulate AI systems, develop software for simulation/visualization and live demonstrations.
  • Work with leading AI experts to deliver capabilities for the warfighter.
