Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a PhD-qualified researcher to join the Intelligent Combat Platforms Group. You will contribute to autonomous systems, AI, and software for advanced warfighter capabilities, collaborating with engineers, scientists, and software developers.

Responsibilities include prototyping AI systems, real-time demonstrations, and advancing machine-precision decisions at machine speeds. Applicants should be eligible for security clearances and U.S.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in STEM is required.
  • C++ and/or Python, with knowledge of software design patterns.
  • Experience with applications for physical systems (mechanical, aerospace, robotics).
  • Experience with AI and autonomy algorithms.
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance and ultimately Top Secret; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on intelligent control and decision-making, human–machine collaboration, networks and systems.
  • Prototype and simulate AI systems by coding, developing software, and supporting live demonstrations.
  • Work with AI experts and engineers to deliver capabilities for warfighters.
