Job summary

Motional, a driverless technology company, is seeking an Associate AV Test Engineer (Level 1) to join the AV Test Engineering team. You will focus on executing daily test operations, initial fault triage, and accurate reporting across virtual, closed-course, and public road environments under supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 0–2 years of experience in software QA, hardware/systems testing, or robotics projects.
• Basic proficiency in Linux environments and scripting in Python or Bash/Shell.
• Familiarity with reading technical documentation, logs, and structured test procedures.
• Domain exposure to automotive protocols or simulation tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily AV testing operations across virtual, synthetic, or physical environments with accuracy.
• Perform independent troubleshooting for minor platform stability issues and document environment triggers.
• Isolate and document minor software or hardware defects with detailed reproduction steps and logs.
• Contribute to test cases, test plans, and SOPs to keep practices up to date.
• Assist senior engineers in designing test plans and validation strategies.
• Communicate troubleshooting findings and logs to the lead test engineer for prioritization.
• Use Jira, Confluence, and GitLab to document findings and maintain traceability.
