Job summary

Uber is building an AV data-collection fleet in Sunnyvale. The AV Fleet Technician serves as the on-site floor captain, leading contractor technicians, performing line-side operations, and guiding electromechanical triage to keep vehicles mission-ready.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience in advanced electromechanical maintenance, autonomous vehicle depot operations, aerospace testing, or complex hardware validation.
• AV Industry & Multi-Platform Experience: Hands-on background supporting multiple vehicle platforms.
• Deep Electromechanical Mastery: Troubleshoot complex physical hardware, automotive wire harnesses, and data links.
• AV Perception Hardware Exposure: Experience with LiDAR, Radar, Camera arrays, GPS/IMU.
• Linux CLI Fluency: Proficient in Linux command-line tools for diagnostics and firmware flashing.
• Communication & Leadership: Lead contractor technicians and communicate failure modes to engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site floor operations and contractor technicians during daily shifts.
• Perform line-side electromechanical and physical triage of complex faults across sensor suites and vehicle systems.
• Validate incoming hardware upfits from contract manufacturers for harness routing and connector seating.
• Oversee sensor calibration and software-driven calibration routines for cameras, LiDAR, and radars.
• Navigate Linux CLI to run health-check scripts, parse logs, and flash firmware.
• Audit SOPs with senior engineers to improve vehicle serviceability and error-proofing.
