Job summary

truckingpeople is seeking a Logistics Driver – Flatbed Tow Operator (Class C) in Austin, TX. This contract, full-time role offers a $27.50/hour wage with a schedule Mon–Fri, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM, and involves safety-focused vehicle recovery of autonomous fleet assets.

You will operate flatbed tow equipment, load/unload, perform inspections, maintain DOT logs, and coordinate with dispatch to ensure timely deliveries while upholding high safety and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Clean driving record with no moving violations.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Ability to meet DOT medical and physical requirements as applicable.
• Ability to safely operate large vehicles with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Safely recover disabled or inactive autonomous vehicles on public roads.
• Operate flatbed tow trucks and perform vehicle loading, unloading, and winching procedures.
• Secure vehicles properly for transport while following all safety protocols.
• Transport vehicles and equipment with a combined gross vehicle weight of up to 26,000 pounds.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate DOT logs, Hours of Service documentation, and transportation records.
• Communicate regularly with dispatch and ground support regarding deliveries, recoveries, and route updates.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance including fueling, checking fluids, monitoring tire pressure, and reporting mechanical concerns.
• Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safe driving practices.
• Work closely with logistics and cross-functional teams to support daily fleet operations.
• Deliver professional customer service while representing our client in the field.
• Respond to changing priorities and recovery requests with flexibility and professionalism.
