Job summary

The Toro Company seeks an experienced robotics perception engineer to develop and integrate autonomous perception capabilities for outdoor robotic platforms. You will work on SLAM, localization, object detection, and sensor fusion using C++/Python on Linux, with ROS/ROS 2 and a suite of vision and ML tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Four to seven years of experience for Level III; seven to ten for Level IV; ten+ for Level V.
• Strong software development skills in C++ and/or Python on Linux systems.
• Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, computer vision, or related perception technologies.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools for software development, debugging, research, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate perception algorithms for autonomous outdoor robotic systems.
• Design solutions for object/obstacle detection, localization, SLAM, and sensor fusion.
• Develop computer vision and ML solutions using monocular, stereo, and depth cameras.
• Process 2D/3D sensor data including point clouds and depth imagery.
• Integrate and evaluate sensors (cameras, LiDAR, GNSS, IMUs, radar, ultrasonic).
• Develop and maintain perception software in a ROS 2 architecture.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and participate in field testing.
• Validate perception algorithms via simulation before deployment.
