Job summary

The Toro Company is seeking a highly skilled robotics perception engineer to help develop autonomous perception systems for outdoor robotic platforms. You will design and implement perception algorithms for object detection, SLAM, localization, and sensor fusion on embedded hardware.

Join a multidisciplinary team, contribute to simulation and real-world testing, and work across mobile and off-road robotics platforms, with travel up to 10% and a strong focus on production-grade software.

Qualifications

Education: bachelor’s degree in Robotics, CS, CE, EE, ME or related field.
Experience Level III/IV/V: 4–7, 7–10, or 10+ years of experience.
Strong software development skills in C++ and/or Python.
Experience with Linux-based systems and robotics perception technologies.
Experience with ROS/ROS 2 and modern robotics software development.

Responsibilities

Develop and integrate perception algorithms for autonomous outdoor robotic systems.
Design solutions for object and obstacle detection, localization and SLAM.
Develop testing tools, metrics, and validation methods using simulation and real-world data.
Validate perception algorithms through simulation prior to deployment.
Optimize perception software for embedded platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson.
Collaborate with navigation, controls, embedded systems, ML, electrical, and systems engineering.
Participate in field testing and iterate solutions based on performance results.
