Job summary

The Toro Company is seeking an Robotics Engineering Intern to contribute to autonomous turf equipment development. You will work on software for autonomous platforms, with hands‑on hardware and cloud tooling, across navigation, perception, and control systems.

You will collaborate with software, systems, electronics, and mechanical engineers to enhance machine performance and support field testing, data collection, and documentation throughout the internship.

Qualifications

• Majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar engineering focus.
• Completed junior‑level courses preferred.
• Strong desire to learn, collaborate, and effectively communicate in a team setting.
• Ability to stay organized and work independently without much direction.
• Bonus skills include: AVR/ARM microcontrollers, ROS1/2, C++, Python or similar scripting language.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, test, and enhance software for autonomous robotic platforms.
• Design and implement robotic subsystems for localization, navigation, path planning, perception, and sensor fusion.
• Improve automation tools, development pipelines, and testing processes to increase efficiency and reliability.
• Create and maintain remote diagnostics, monitoring tools, and engineering utilities.
• Collaborate with software, systems, electronics, and mechanical engineers to optimize overall machine performance.
• Support the integration and validation of new autonomous features on prototype and production hardware.
• Gain exposure to onboard sensors, controls, cloud applications, and fleet management systems.
• Participate in field testing, data collection, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
• Document designs, test results, and technical findings to support ongoing product development.
