Job summary

The Toro Company seeks a Robotics Engineer to own autonomous subsystems, including localization, planning, and control. You will develop SLAM, multisensor fusion, and advanced planning capabilities while collaborating with Perception, Embedded, and Safety teams for reliable field performance.

Ideal candidates have a robotics or engineering background with 2–12+ years of experience, and a willingness to work in Bloomington. The role supports hybrid schedules and a strong total rewards package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, robotics, CS required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience levels by robotics engineer rank II–V with years of professional work.

Responsibilities

• Own and advance major autonomy features and robotic subsystems (localization, planning, control).
• Develop and optimize SLAM solutions using 2D/3D data, LiDAR, and vision.
• Design multisensor fusion using EKF, UKF, or factor graphs.
• Develop planning and control capabilities (MPC, LQR, trajectory tracking).
• Plan experiments and establish KPIs for accuracy, latency, reliability, and real-time performance.
• Perform failure-mode and root-cause analyses with safety concepts.
• Support embedded platforms (NVIDIA, ARM) in system bring-up.
• Collaborate with suppliers and partners; participate in code reviews and standards.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers.
