Job summary

The Toro Company, based in Bloomington, Minnesota, is seeking a Robotics Engineering Intern for the 2027 Summer Internship Program from May 17 to August 6, 2027. You will contribute to autonomous turf equipment development, working with both hardware and software to enable navigation, perception, and control.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will design, test, and improve autonomous capabilities while gaining exposure to field testing, diagnostics, and fleet management.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a relevant engineering program for the duration of the internship.
• Pursuing Computer Science/Engineering with junior-level courses preferred.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to stay organized and work independently with minimal direction.
• Bonus: AVR/ARM microcontrollers, ROS1/2, C++, Python experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, test, and enhance software for autonomous robotic platforms.
• Design robotic subsystems for localization, navigation, path planning, perception, and sensor fusion.
• Improve automation tools, pipelines, and testing processes for reliability.
• Create and maintain remote diagnostics and engineering utilities.
• Collaborate with software, systems, electronics, and mechanical engineers to optimize performance.
• Support integration and validation of new autonomous features on prototype/production hardware.
• Gain exposure to the autonomous machine ecosystem and fleet management systems.
• Document designs, test results, and technical findings to support product development.
