Job summary

DoorDash Labs is seeking a Hardware Validation Engineer to verify and validate the system requirements for Dot, our next‑generation autonomous delivery robot. You will develop and execute test campaigns to ensure our delivery hardware meets performance, safety, and regulatory goals.

You’ll join our V&V team based in Oakland, with occasional travel to test sites in California, Arizona, and Michigan. You will lead test reviews, maintain test fixtures, and collaborate with DevOps, Software,

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in engineering (robotics, electrical, mechanical or CS).
• 5+ years in automotive or mechatronics system-level testing/validation.
• Hands-on CAN bus and Ethernet data logging/analysis.
• Environmental testing experience (thermal, shock, IP).
• Strong track record managing cross-functional programmes.
• Understanding of vehicle mechanics and electronics.
• Familiarity with autonomous perception systems.

Responsibilities

• Validate next-generation robot delivery hardware.
• Develop and execute robot system tests with requirement owners.
• Test electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety and sensing performance.
• Troubleshoot and improve robot reliability through testing.
• Plan, track, and report test program progress with cross-functional teams.
• Construct and maintain test tooling, fixtures and docs.
• Lead test reviews and communicate progress.
