Job summary

DoorDash Labs is seeking a Hardware Validation Engineer to verify and validate the design requirements for Dot, our autonomous delivery robot. You will develop and execute test campaigns ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory goals are met, with a focus on hardware validation.

You will join the V&V team in Oakland and travel to test sites in CA, AZ, and MI as needed. This role requires hands-on testing across environmental conditions and collaboration with multiple engineering domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, master's or PhD in robotics/mechatronics/electrical or computer science.
• 5+ years in automotive/mechatronics testing at system level.
• Experience with environmental testing and data logging.

Responsibilities

• Validate next-generation robot delivery hardware.
• Develop and execute robot system tests with hardware owners.
• Validate electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety and sensing performance across environments.
• Improve robot reliability through rigorous testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI and Ops to plan, track, and resolve issues.
• Construct and maintain test tooling, fixtures and documentation.
• Lead test reviews and report progress.
