Job summary

Applied Intuition in Sunnyvale is hiring a Perception Autonomy engineer to design and integrate real-time sensor software for autonomous vehicles across multiple domains. You will lead cross-functional efforts to enhance AI/ML sensor fusion, interfaces, and embedded deployments.

The role requires strong ML and sensor expertise, Linux/Docker experience, and collaboration with DoD test environments. Occasional travel may be required; U.S. citizenship and security clearance are necessary.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical/Computer/Electrical Engineering, Robotic Engineering, Computer Science, Optimization, or equivalent OR 5+ years of relevant experience with sensor algorithms, hardware, and HIL software integration
• Experience with multiple sensor modalities (EO, IR, lidar, radar, sonar, acoustics) and understanding of sensor physics and control parameters
• Experience training and deploying ML algorithms (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow) onto integrated systems (ONNX, C++)
• Familiarity with tracking basics (Kalman filters) and optimal sensor fusion
• Experience working in Linux and Docker environments
• Remote software development, handling large datasets, and learning new software with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and adapt cutting-edge AI/ML algorithms on the perception autonomy stack to collect information from a suite of platform sensors
• Create interfacing software to autonomously control sensors (EO, IR, acoustics, radar, RF)
• Collaborate across sensor, tracking, and autonomy teams for deployment at DoD testing and demonstrations
• Deploy containerized solutions to embedded Linux devices and collect performance data
• Interact with DoD customers to understand use cases and triage needs during field events
• Drive execution of simulation tooling to replay sensors, platforms, and autonomy in post-processing field test analysis
• Propose improvement plans for future integration based on simulation and customer feedback
