Job summary

Saronic Technologies is hiring a Mission Operations Manager to ensure the continued safe operation of our autonomous vessels as the fleet grows. You will serve as the maritime safety expert across R&D, customer operations, and real-world missions, reporting to the Senior Director of Mission Operations.

As the designated person ashore (DPA), you will maintain the vessel SMS under the IMO ISM Code, advise on maritime risk, and collaborate with captains, engineers, officers, and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in maritime safety or vessel safety management.
• Qualified as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) under the IMO ISM Code.
• Strong knowledge of IMO conventions and USCG/flag state requirements.
• Experience running a maritime safety program with multi-team operations.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as DPA linking shipboard operations and management on safety matters.
• Maintain SMS under the IMO ISM Code and update procedures.
• Develop ROCSMS per MASS guidance and align with class/survey requirements.
• Provide independent safety assessments to support go/no-go decisions.
• Track safety metrics and prepare leadership reports.
• Deliver safety training and onboarding for operational personnel.
