Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Embedded Controls Engineer in Washington to design and implement real-time control systems for the Fuel Cell Generator, integrating mechanical, electrical, thermal, and fluid subsystems for spaceflight applications. The role covers requirements, design, validation, and certification planning (DO-178/NPR 7150), plus SIL/HIL testing and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 3+ years real-time embedded control experience in aerospace environments.
• Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink and autocoding.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and verification.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Develop control systems across mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluid domains from requirements to verification.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and algorithms for spaceflight-ready applications.
• Modify signal processing and control algorithms for embedded platforms.
• Support SIL/HIL testing and verification procedures.
• Plan certification strategies for DO-178/NPR 7150 and flight test operations.
• Collaborate with small teams on fast-paced projects.
