Job summary

Blue Origin LLC, located in Washington, seeks an experienced controls engineer to advance automated manufacturing across our rocket production facilities. You will design, modify, and deploy PLC and robot programs, and collaborate with data science teams to drive data-driven improvements.

Ideal candidates possess strong electrical design and control-system skills, familiarity with safety standards, and U.S. citizenship or work authorization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience with automation software development languages (e.g., Ladder, ST, C/C++).
• 10+ years experience with controls and automation software environments (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley).
• 10+ years experience with 'from scratch' software development for automated tooling or equipment.
• Ability to interpret and review electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Strong design and process simplification skills.

Responsibilities

• Support initiatives to improve reliability and efficiency of manufacturing processes through automation; define architecture, roadmap, and implementation.
• Collaborate with data-science and analytics teams to pair control system development with IoT analytics and data-driven improvements.
• Electrical design and modification of industrial control and safety systems.
• Design and modification of PLC and robot programs.
• Design of process control systems and data collection solutions.
• Support development of SCADA applications (Ignition, Kepware, AWS).
• Provide production support for sophisticated manufacturing equipment.
