Job summary

Flytrex Inc. in Plano, TX is seeking an Autonomous Flight Systems Field Engineer to join our on-site team. This hands-on role blends field flight operations with lab engineering, configuring and testing autonomous flight systems for our drone delivery platform.

You will work at the Flytrex Flight Test Facility, ensure CFR 14 Part 107 compliance, and use ArduPilot-based controllers, Mission Planner, and related tooling. Travel is local; U.S.

Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
• Hands-on experience with ArduPilot or similar flight controllers.
• Proficiency with Mission Planner for mission planning, configuration and telemetry review.
• Experience with UAS hardware testing, sensor integration, calibration, and test protocols.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to document tests clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work in a fast-paced team.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean record.
• Equivalent hands-on autonomous UAS experience (3+ years).

Responsibilities

• Configure, tune, and validate Flytrex flight controllers and hardware.
• Operate Flight Control Software for mission planning, telemetry review, and post-flight data analysis.
• Perform systems integration and testing, including HIL testing, sensor calibration, and payload integration.
• Execute aircraft R&D and flight testing following procedures and checklists.
• Maintain aircraft readiness and required equipment.
• Document daily flight activities, logs, and test reports with precision.
• Deconflict ground and air risks per CFR 14 Part 107.
• Apply root cause analysis to flight anomalies and faults.
• Assist with design and improvement of testing procedures.
• Perform collateral duties as required.
