Job summary

Flytrex is seeking a hands-on Autonomous Flight Systems Field Engineer to support R&D and operational testing at the Flytrex Flight Test Facility in Hurst, Texas. This full-time, on-site role blends field flight operations with lab engineering to configure, integrate, test, and troubleshoot autonomous flight systems.

Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
• Hands-on experience with ArduPilot or similar flight controllers, including configuration and fault troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Mission Planner for mission planning, configuration and telemetry review.
• Experience with UAS system integration and hardware testing, including sensor calibration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to diagnose complex system faults in field and lab environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical documentation and test reports.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
• Valid Driver’s License (driving record check).

Responsibilities

• Configure, tune, and validate flight controllers and supporting hardware.
• Operate Flight Control Software for mission planning, telemetry review, and data analysis.
• Perform systems integration and testing, including HIL testing and calibration.
• Execute R&D functions and flight testing following procedures and checklists.
• Perform aircraft maintenance and ensure readiness of all flight systems.
• Document daily flight activities, logs, and test reports with engineering precision.
• Deconflict ground and air risks per CFR 14 Part 107 during operations.
• Apply root cause analysis to flight anomalies and hardware faults.
• Assist with design and continuous improvement of procedures.
