ST. CLAIR COUNTY TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER seeks an Automotive Technology Program Instructional Technician to support the instructional team and assist students in overcoming barriers to learning.

The paraprofessional collaborates with the instructor to develop plans and reinforce academic and technical content. Key duties include coordinating support services, contributing to student achievement plans, and providing feedback on student progress and needs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Teamwork, problem solving, and strong communication skills.
  • Self-managed with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate support services with the Instructor.
  • Assist in the development of individual student achievement plans.
  • Assist students by reviewing, re-teaching and reinforcing technical and academic content.
  • Assist students in the development of personal management skills.
  • Assist students in the transition from school-to-work.
  • Provide feedback to the Instructor regarding student progress, behavior and special needs.
  • Substitute teacher when the Instructor is absent.
  • Assist with recruiting and promotional activities.
  • Assist with student management activities.
  • Assist with classroom/lab organization and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in professional development activities that enhance support services for students.
  • Follow policies and procedures set forth in the Staff handbook, Student Handbook and Board of Education Policy Manual.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNICIAN

POSITION SUMMARY

The Paraprofessional functions as a member of the instructional team under the direction of the Instructor. The Paraprofessional provides support services for students to assist them in overcoming barriers to learning.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4,000 recent and relevant hours of work experience as an Automotive Technician required.
  • Related Associate’s degree and/or Automotive State or ASE Certification preferred.
  • ACT/WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate – Gold Level preferred.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties and tasks of an Automotive Technician, including being able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, pull, push, twist and be able to stand for long periods of time.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
