Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a skilled Technician to diagnose and repair automotive systems while delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will explain repairs to customers and coworkers, stay current with evolving automotive tech, and mentor junior staff.

The role requires at least 1 year of automotive diagnostic experience, a valid driver’s license, and availability for various shifts. ASE certifications are preferred and state inspections may be applicable.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
At least 1 year of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
2+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes).
Section 609 certification preferred.
State Inspection license if applicable.
Valid driver’s license required.
Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair to specifications for brakes, hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment.
Perform duties of lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical employees and customers as needed.
Continuously learn new automotive technologies in formal training sessions.
Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities and keep management informed of problems.
